I would also like to give you a brief intro to my Brand New Back to Basics Riding Program... still in development... but coming soon!
This will be a very unique Four Week Riding Course that includes 4 to 6 videos each week covering everything from grooming a horse to learning to jump and starting basic dressage! The most exciting part of this course is that it will include one on one video coaching! We'll contact you via email when this program is available!
Back to Basics teaches you how to ride the right way. This means riding without yanking on the horse's mouth to stop or kicking his sides to go. Back to Basics is a system of riding that focuses on developing good balance and making you a "natural" at riding. It's about learning the most important stuff first so you have the confidence to go faster, jump higher, or try more advanced moves later on.
Back to Basics is also about having fun, and not getting so caught up in "heels down, shoulders back" that riding is more of a chore than a hobby or a passion. Personally, I believe that riding horses is about more than just the ride, it's about connecting with the horse and riding in a way that's best for the horse too.
I train my horses and I teach my riders with positive reinforcement, which means look for what's good and praise it. Let mistakes be feedback and not a reason to beat yourself up.
Riding isn't easy, it takes practice, hard-work, and acceptance of the fact that you might hit the ground at some point. But the rewards are huge - when you can achieve that feeling of oneness with the beautiful, elegant animal that is the horse, and you feel the stress of the day just melt away as you simply walk down a trail or around the arena fence you'll know all the sweat, dirt, and horse hair were worth it.
It's always easier to learn something right the first time before bad habits set in. Let CRK Training help you in your equestrian journey with Back to Basics. We're going to show you everything from putting the saddle on the horse, to riding the canter and jumping. All the stuff you need to know is in here, I give you all the tips and "secrets" that aren't usually even taught to new riders, but there isn't so much fluff and detail that you can't remember what's important.
